For me the answer would not only be, NO! But a very loud and firm &%(*, NO !
Now I know that all public schools aren’t bad. I know that there are many teachers doing their very best, their hands are tied. I understand that some children will get a wonderful education. So I am not knocking anyone that has children in the public school system.
It just isn’t for mine! I have gone so far as to discuss this with my older children, who would be the guardians of my little ones if anything happened to their father and I.
There is nothing about my local public school system that would make me believe in them. Even though they are rated really well. The graduation rate still stands at under 40%. I have seen many children in my own extended family and their friends, come out of the local schools in the top 10% of their classes, and not be able to attend college without remedial classes. That is very sad. The schools in my little town are rated ”Exemplary” too.
I truly believe in the Dumbing Down of American Education.
I will not trust them with my children. I don’t think that I would honestly trust any public school system, no matter where it is. I don’t believe in the “feel good trend”. I believe in hard work.
I believe whole heartedly in a parents right to decide their children’s education. I love my kids, but I would not consider their input at all. It is my job to ensure that they are prepared for life.
If they wish to have the experience of public school, they can graduate my home school first. Then they are welcome to attend for social reasons, IMO ! In Texas the legal age of consent is 17, I require my children to graduate before they turn 17. They can spend that last year at home with us working, job sampling, attending community college, or going to public school. It is a year to figure out what they love.
