UPDATE 2-11-12 Curriculum Reorganizing & Combining, 2012-2013!

Update 2-11-12 Emma didn't want to do P 4/5 again, so we have moved on to K. She is doing well. I think this might really work. She is engaged and answering questions well. So we will continue on. Quince has heard this all before, but he is ok with that. He told me he can now focus more on math, reading and language arts. ;-)

Our line up this year is to do..

Sonlight Core K with readers 1 for Emma and 4-5 for Quince ( Will be looking for other readers for him soon. ).

Singapore Math 1 & 2 using Math Mammoth for any extra practice we need.

First Language Lessons 1 & 2 with Growing with Grammar.

Winning With Writing 1 & 2 with Writing With Ease.

Song School Latin for now, moving on to Lively Latin Big Book 1.

Explode the Code at each child's level.

Wordly Wise 3000 Books 2 -3 ( Quince's request ).

Sonlight K Science with tons of extra reading.

All About Spelling 2 & 3 for Quince, and 1 for Emma.

Extra handwriting and copy work. Quince is working on cursive, and Emma is just starting to write her letters.

Emma is still working on Ordinary Parent Guide to Teaching Reading, she is reading Bob books and HOP books too. They both are playing on ReadingEggs.com.

Add in lots of play and art. We have lots to cover. We are doing a 4 day week, so that we have some fun outside the house on Fridays.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My little Emma has made such leaps and bounds. I am convinced that I can get them both on the same page for Science, History and Read Alouds, in other words on the same Core in Sonlight.
So starting at the beginning of the year, we are going to start back at P 3/4 and do it in just a few weeks. We will restart P 4/5 in February and do it in half time. Moving on to Core A in about August working at a regular pace. Which will put the kids at 5 & 7 for Core B which will be doable.
I love the idea of the kids being on the same page, able to discuss books together. I love that they are just 21 months apart, and this is a possibility !
They will also be combined as they are now for Latin and arts.
They will have their own Math, Phonics, Reading & LA.
I am really excited.
Sounds fantastic! [smile] I know my family enjoyed sharing the same books together.
I never could do this with my older children, they weren't even remotely close to the same page. I am EXCITED !
It looks like my grand kids will be home schooled *YAAAHHHH* and I've advised Mom to just put them all together since the older is only 15 months older than the twins. She certainly has her hands full, but I have confidence she can handle it.
Good for you!
Congrats Mom #1 !!! Just remember to give her a break now and then, you know how hard it can be at times.
